Councilor Rogerson's visit
In July, 2015, Councilor Rogerson arrived at Sunshine Coast Grammar school in his electric car to talk about the needs of Solar and sustainable power. The students were very excited as well as the staff.
He had a great presentation and also demonstrated how some powers work.
It was surprising as he also brought in his own solar panel. It was interesting because he tried it inside and the energy didn't generate. but when he demonstrated outside the buzzer was working.
What is energy:
The flow of electrons.
This is what he wanted us to know by the end of the day. he also said that a light bulb was like a traffic jam. Someone said that all that is needed to create electricity was a magnet, a rod and movement between the two. this theory was correct.
He showed us a chart of how well solar power would work on the Sunshine Coast and how people are already making a solar farm in Valdora right now.
The Solar Farm.
The Solar farm is to be located in Valdora and is a 15 MW solar farm. This farm is going to be lifted as it is placed on a flood area. Mount Ninderry is going to be right next to this farm and people are aware that there may be reflection but the council has said that there will be no reflection and it is still going to be OK to climb Mount Ninderry without glare in your eyes.
Our proposal was a great idea and this solar farm is making it happen.

- The solar farm will deliver a multi-million-dollar saving for ratepayers.
- The solar farm will help develop the ‘clean tech’ industry hub on the Coast.
- Skills developed during construction can be exported to similar projects within and outside Queensland. This will further diversify the local economy.
- Reduces Australia’s carbon emissions
- Complement the Sunshine Coast’s 30,000 solar rooftops.
